美國大型企業聯合會所公布的十二月份消費者信心指數跌破專家眼鏡：由55.2升至64.5的表現遠較預測的58.3為高。該項數據飆高指向較感恩假期熱絡的聖誕消費。值得注意的是仍舊深陷泥沼的歐洲經濟是否會影響美國的好心情。

撇開節節上揚的歐債與日益緊縮的歐洲通貨，義大利政府本周成功標售九十億歐元的六個月短期國債。其中標售利率由上個月破紀錄的6.504%降至3.251%。借貸成本的下降讓義大利政府與歐盟各國鬆一口氣。但下周義大利政府將有另一波十年長期公債標售；標售利率是否能如短期債券般下降將是觀察重點。

半導體方面，由於歐美正逢聖誕假期，日本也將迎接新年假期，供應鏈進入冬眠狀態，僅維持正常出貨機能。眼下，眾家目光遠眺明年一月十號登場的CES 2012。從已宣布的消息及市場謠言來看，明年度的CES可望公布新一波的Ultrabook，甚至有可能是使用Ivy Bridge的Ultrabook、使用新Intel晶片的智慧型手機與平板電腦、變形金剛與Nexus Galaxy之外的Android 4.0手機與平板電腦、以及應用最新科技的Smart TV。就且拭目以待吧。


The sharp rise in sentiment reported by the Conference Board due to improving labor market conditions on Tuesday offered hope for a pick-up in consumer spending after an anemic performance in November. However, persistently weak house prices remain an obstacle to faster economic growth.

The Conference Board's index of consumer confidence rose to 64.5 this month from 55.2 in November, beating economists' expectations for a reading of 58.3.

Despite the show of resilience, the debt crisis in Europe continues to cast a shadow over the U.S. economy. However, there was at least one good news from the Old Continent.

The Italian Treasury paid sharply less to borrow money for six months than it did a month ago, giving the financially strapped government a round of holiday cheer. Italy sold €9 billion of six-month treasury bills at an average yield of 3.251%, down from an average yield of 6.504% at November's auction, a euro-era high.

On the industrial side, most semiconductor firms have gone into hibernation phase. They are waiting for the new hype to be lit up after CES 2012. This year, CES 2012 will be held at Barcelona, Spain from 2012/1/10 to 2012/1/13. New wave of Ultrabooks, Intel-powered smartphones and tablets, collection of ICS smartphone and tablets and latest Smart TV are expected at the show.
